The sport project IHC "Vasilchenko" – school of ice-hockey skills.

To be a man – means to be a champion.

Life is a constant fight with yourself: with your own problems and laziness!

A good sportsman is not a talented sportsman. A good sportsman is a hard-working person, with stubborn and powerful character.

Ice-hockey is that kind of sport that requires complicated movements and technique at high speed and in the condition of intensive physical contact. This game requires muscle bulk and great force at the aggressive collision with the rival. At the same time the player must move effectively, keep balance at high speed and be ready for a speed-up. To pay ice-hockey, the game that demonstrates high demand to the players, a good physical training is needed.

Your general potential to do sport

Sport brings up the necessity of charge: physical, mental, psychological and emotional. When a child understands that he wants to play ice-hockey, the coaches’ aim is to cultivate love of ice-hockey. Coaches should show children how to take monotonous hard work in all spheres of this game, like skating, puck technique, coordination and balance. First the accent is put on the skating skills and balance. The training are planned in order to let children show their whole potential. The effectiveness of trainings system depends much on developmental age regularities taking into consideration abilities on each age level. The coaching staff of IHC Vasilchenko never stays on the same place. That’s why at least twice a year we visit different seminars in different ice-hockey schools around the world. All new methods and techniques are implemented into our work.

What are you taught at IHC Vasilchenko?

The fundamental part. From the very beginning our coaching staff has marked three key-elements of the training process:

  • Skating
  • Dribbling, puck control
  • Overall physical training

The project’s aim consists of: individual training, skills development at both children and adults.

The main principles of the training system are:

  • Visibility doing complicated elements
  • Putting the exercises to an automation level
  • From the simple to the complicated
  • Consultations and recommendations (schedule, nutrition, physical and psychological charge)

IHC Vasilchenko trainings targets

Technique trainings

  • Skating technique (forward and backward, speed-up, corners, start and break)
  • Further skating technique, "force" skating
  • Puck technique, hockey-stick technique, dodges
  • Further hockey-stick technique, passes and shoots
  • Further shoot technique, shooting standing on both feet, shooting while skating, shoots from both sides of a hook
  • We begin from simple exercises: puck technique, wide and narrow dribbling

Very important!

Our coaches tell you and show you what the length of an ice-hockey stick must be for children (both being in skates and without skates). We also show how to put the insulating tape around the upper part of a stick and the blade. The coaches also show how to hold the stick correctly. Speaking about the uniform the coaches will show how to dress your child in the uniform and how to do-up shoelaces in the skates.

Homework and exercises

Young ice-hockey players must train at least twice a week on their own. They must do the acrobatics, stretch their bodies, work on plasticity (30 minutes a day is enough for all these exercises). Swimming is the case you must be very particular with. Swimming is very important for general fitness development (at least twice a week).

General trainings on the beginner’s level cannot perfect skating and dribbling in 95 per cent of cases. The incorrect training plan forms the wrong skating and technique. To correct the mistakes you need time, patience and time again!

Our aim is to captivate children, form skills and passion to further ice-hockey trainings, form the wish to come to trainings with the feeling of love and proudness.

In the modern language the word "clinic" means extra individual trainings or extra trainings in mini groups. They are aimed to better puck technique and puck control. Usually clinics are organized twice or three times a week.
